    Admission

To enrol at Codarts you should be in possession of a havo diploma, mbo bve-level 4 or a (foreign) certificate of equivalent value, in which the subject packet or the profile is of secondary importance. In special cases the above diploma demands can be set aside. The student-to-be then has the possibility to take a capacity test, to check if there is sufficient general development to be able to follow the study. The fees for this test are charged to the student-to-be.

    Admission exam

During the admission exam, your aptitude, knowledge, skills and developability are tested. The exam consists of three different parts: practical part, theoretical part and motivation interview.

    • Step 1

      Register

      1. Go to https://www.studielink.nl/
      2. When you log in for the first time, you will need:
your DigiD (applies only to Dutch citizens and/or residents), personal and contact information, diploma(s) you have obtained or will obtain.
      3. Codarts can be found under 'University of Applied Sciences'. Place a request for enrollment in the programme(s) of your choice (maximum of 3). Your request will automatically be forwarded to Codarts Administrative Service Centre (ASC).

For more information about Studielink, click here.

After a successful registration through Studielink you will receive an email from Codarts (noreply@codarts.nl) as a notification to proceed with your registration through myapplication.codarts.nl.

Complete this registration, upload a passport photo, upload your motivational letter and your musical resume.

In this message you will receive a new login for this website (this is not the same as Studielink). In some cases, this email may go to your spam box, so keep an eye on it. Only once you have completed your registration through both platforms is your registration for the audition complete.

Questions? Contact the ASC at asc@codarts.nl.

    • Step 2

Music video recordings for online portfolio

You must submit at least 3 video recordings in contrasting styles by different composers or where your own work can be heard and seen (per performance maximum 4 minutes). Preferably played with a ensemble/ combo / band.

You must be clearly visible in your video recordings to ensure that the committee can accurately assess your skills, technique and potential.

You can upload separate links (Youtube or Vimeo) to these videos in Osiris Application.
Please note that we do not accept CDs, DVDs or MP3s.

We would advise you to set the link of your videos to ‘hidden’ so that your videos are not visible to the public.

PLEASE NOTE: Different admission requirements apply for the Creative Producer subject group. Submit a working Soundcloud link with a minimum of three tracks. Make sure the Soundcloud link is set to private and you send in the shareable link. Preferably tracks with original self-recorded vocals. These may not be vocal samples from Splice, for example.

    • Step 3

      Invitation for audition

Based on your digital portfolio in Osiris Application, the admissions committee decides whether you will be invited for an audition at Codarts. The result of the preselection will be send out by the Administrative Service Center (ASC) per email.

    • Step 4

      The audition

The content of the audition reflects the requirements that the programme and subsequent professional practice will impose on the students.

During the audition, your aptitude, knowledge, skills and developability will be tested for the course of study you plan to follow. The audition consists of three different parts:

      Practical part
During the audition we will test your talent, knowledge, skills and development possibilities for the study programme you intend to follow.

      Theoretical part
You will be tested on your theoretical knowledge. For the specific requirements click here.

Please note: Being available on the audition days as mentioned on the website

      Motivation interview
During the interview the following aspects will be discussed:

      • General motivation.
      • The image/idea you have at Codarts.
      • How you think about disciplinarity, interdisciplinarity and transdisciplinarity.

      Auditions
Practice admission for students residing in the EEA will be live only.
Only non-EEA students will have the opportunity to take an online entrance exam.
You can make this choice once in the OSIRIS application form and cannot be changed.

    • Step 5

      Results of the audition

The management of the programme will determine together with the admissions committee whether you can be admitted. Codarts has a limited number of study places available, so it may take some time before you will receive an email saying whether you have been admitted or not.

This is still information for the past academic year 2023-2024. New information for 2024-2025 will be published by 1 November 2024.
